Walsh at ESMA, A Traveling Exhibition
The Director of Content and Museographic Production at the ESMA Museum and Site of Memory is in charge of advising and creating the production together with the institutions that will host the traveling exhibition.
After its exhibition in the Museum, the Walsh at ESMA exhibit started to tour the country. The exhibition traveled to various places, including several universities, reaching students and citizens of different urban areas and provinces across the entire country.
The Museum facilitated the content and collaborated on the adaptation of the exhibition to each of the venues where it was displayed.
In 2017, the exhibition opened at the House of Representatives of the Province of Buenos Aires in La Plata from June 5th to 16th, 2017.
As a part of its annual series “40 Years Since The Disappearance of Rodolfo Walsh”, the Quilmes National University presented the exhibition Walsh at the ESMA on July 4–28, organized by the Cultural Program –Secretary of Extension– Department of Social Sciences of the University and ESMA Museum and Site for Memory.
Walsh at ESMA was on display at the Arturo Jauretche National University from October 13th to December 15th, after its inauguration with a conference by Eduardo Jozami, writer and journalist, and Alejandra Naftal. The panel was moderated by Ernesto Villanueva, Dean of the University.
The traveling exhibition Walsh at ESMA continued to tour urban towns and landed at the Province of Córdoba, reaching a new audience formed mostly by high school and college students.
Organized by the Commission on Human Rights for Memory, Truth and Justice of Traslasierra and the Project 24LH40 of Los Hornillos, our traveling exhibition Walsh at ESMA was inaugurated on Saturday, March 31 at the San Martin Square in Villa de Las Rosas during the Handicraft and Farmers Fair. It arrived at Comuna de Las Calles, in Traslasierra, during the Week of Memory. Afterwards, it was also exhibited in Mina Clavero, Villa Dolores, Los Hornillos, Luyaba, La Poblacion and at La Perla – Former Clandestine Centre of Detention, Torture and Extermination.
A few months later, on Tuesday, August 21st, Walsh at ESMA was inaugurated at the Cultural Multispace of the National University of General Sarmiento.
The presentation featured the participation of the ESMA Museum and Site of Memory Executive Director Alejandra Naftal, Eduardo Jozami, author of “Rodolfo Walsh. Word and Action”, and María Pia López, Head of the University of General Sarmiento’s Cultural Center.
On Saturday, September 8th, Walsh at ESMA was presented at the Cultural House of the City of Escobar.
Participants in the inauguration included Mercedes Soiza Reilly, who was the prosecutor for the Megacausa ESMA; Flavia Battistiol, councilor of Escobar; Maria Rosenfeldt, director of Content and Museographic Production; Sebastián Schonfeld, director of Institutional Relations and Cecilia Cavallo, coordinator of the Educative Team of the Museum and Site for Memory ESMA.
In March 2019, the traveling exhibition Wash at ESMA – Testimonies and Documents arrived at the City of Tigre organized by the Secretary of Participation and Community Relations – General Direction of Human Rights in Tigre. The exhibition remained open until May 21st.
